Losing weight can be challenging. Various factors can hinder progress and cause negative effects on energy levels, mood, metabolism, and hunger. These can all derail your weight loss plan and make you miserable and lethargic in the process.

However, there are a category of supplements that can help a great deal. These are thermogenic fat burners, and they are purpose built to alleviate these side effects. They can optimise your weight loss, give you more energy, and sate your hunger, amongst plenty of other benefits.

With a plethora of fat burners available, it can be overwhelming to choose the right one. In this article, I’ll be looking into a couple of the top fat burners on the market: PhenQ and Instant Knockout.

Our Verdict:

PhenQ Vs Instant Knockout

I would always recommend PhenQ as a bit of a vanilla option. I don’t mean this pejoratively at all. It covers all bases without any kind of extremism at play.

Instant Knockout is great for those who can take plenty of caffeine and who want to train hard as they lose weight.

Overall, PhenQ will be the ideal choice for most people and is one of the most effective fat burners I have used.

About PhenQ and Instant Knockout

It’s always nice to know that a supplier is trustworthy, that their research is reliable, their manufacturing process follows good practice and is data led, and that their product is well-known for being effective and usable.

Fortunately, both PhenQ and Instant Knockout offer all of these qualities and more.

PhenQ, a thermogenic fat burner, is produced by Wolfson Berg, a leading supplement company known for their high-quality products across health, fitness, and wellbeing for over a decade. To be a top thermogenic fat burner, all ingredients must be potent, natural, well-researched, scientifically justified, and of high quality. PhenQ excels in this regard, with a formula that is second to none.

A thermogenic fat burner will increase thermogenesis, which is the process of heat creation in our bodies and a good measure of energy expenditure and metabolic health. Greater thermogenesis means greater calorie use, which is of great benefit for weight loss. PhenQ can help burn an extra hundred or so calories per day, contributing to a calorie deficit. Additionally, PhenQ improves or aids several pathways that can assist with weight loss.

Instant Knockout box and bottle

Instant Knockout is created by Roar Ambition, a fantastic, fast-growing company with a reputation for brilliance, who design their products for people who want to maintain their physical performance as they look to shed body fat. It is aimed at fighters, such as boxers, MMA competitors, and martial artists, but can be used by anyone who likes to be active and train hard.

The formula is made to ramp up energy levels, dim hunger pangs, and, as PhenQ, to bolster thermogenic rate. It contains a hefty caffeine kick, which is a well-known stimulant and a fantastic thermogenic fat burner in its own right.

Instant Knockout also doubles up as a potent pre-workout supplement, full of stimulants and ingredients aimed at giving a massive energy kick. With a host of thermogenic ingredients, a good complex of vitamins and minerals, and one of the market’s best soluble fibres, Instant Knockout is perfect for those wanting to push themselves to their limits and achieve their weight loss goals.

What both PhenQ and Instant Knockout do

As above, Instant Knockout and PhenQ are a couple of the most effective thermogenic fat burners available on the market.

These supplements work broadly in three ways. Firstly, they increase your rate of thermogenesis, which means they ramp up your metabolism to burn more calories even when you are at rest. This can prevent your metabolism from slowing down when you restrict your calorie intake, which ensures that you continue to lose weight at a steady pace.

In fact, a product like PhenQ or Instant Knockout can increase the number of calories burned per day by 50-100.

Secondly, fat burners like these can suppress your appetite and increase satiety. When you are trying to lose weight, you need to maintain a calorie deficit, which means eating less than your body needs. PhenQ and Instant Knockout can support you in achieving this by reducing cravings and hunger pangs. This makes it easier to stick to a restricted eating plan and avoid overeating.

Finally, a calorie deficit can leave you feeling sluggish and foggy-headed. You may lack energy and find it difficult to maintain athleticism and keep up with your active lifestyle. A good thermogenic fat burner can provide a much-needed energy boost to help you power through your day. Both do this, though Instant Knockout is designed to really ramp up that energy kick.

Overall, PhenQ and Instant Knockout are both effective thermogenic fat burners that can help you lose weight by boosting your metabolism, suppressing appetite, and increasing your energy levels.

How does each product compare to the other?

I have a clear preference for PhenQ over Instant Knockout. In fact, I consider it to be one of the best supplements available. Wolfson Brands have a habit of really hitting the market’s high end with their products.

However, it’s important to consider the details, particularly the ingredients list and formula, before making such a broad statement. A supplement’s effectiveness is determined by the quality of its individual components. Interestingly, PhenQ and Instant Knockout share some common ingredients, including popular thermogenic and weight loss compounds.

Their common heritage

PhenQ and Instant Knockout share two common ingredients, namely caffeine and cayenne pepper/Capsimax powder.

Caffeine is known to increase thermogenesis and energy expenditure, which can help you to burn fat faster without making any changes to your diet or exercise routine. Additionally, caffeine can enhance your muscle strength, allowing you to push yourself harder during workouts.

Meanwhile, cayenne pepper and Capsimax powder contain capsaicin and capsaicinoids, which are largely responsible for their fat-burning and appetite-suppressing properties. These compounds can help to increase fat oxidation and reduce hunger, making it easier for you to stick to your weight loss goals.

The individual formulas

PhenQ boasts an impressive list of natural, vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, filler and additive-free ingredients. All of its ingredients are well-dosed and work together to provide a powerful thermogenic effect that helps to boost metabolism and burn extra calories.

One of the key ingredients in PhenQ is caffeine anhydrous, which provides a significant amount of stimulation. With 142.5 mg of caffeine anhydrous per serving, PhenQ provides about the same amount of caffeine as a couple of shots of espresso. However, caffeine anhydrous is a particularly potent form of caffeine and is one of the best thermogenic ingredients available. It helps to boost metabolism and burn extra calories, making it an effective weight loss aid.

As we have seen, PhenQ also contains capsicum extract, another potent thermogenic ingredient. With 8 mg of capsicum extract per serving, further accelerating calorie burning and metabolism.

L-carnitine fumarate also works away at the heart of PhenQ’s formula. It helps to accelerate the rate at which the body metabolises fat, which can be a challenge for many people trying to lose weight. By creating energy from excess fat, l-carnitine fumarate helps to speed up the weight loss process.

PhenQ also contains niacin powder, or vitamin B3, which provides the body with natural energy. This helps to keep you sharp and focused during workouts, while still keeping up a decent calorie deficit.

Fibre is an important component of any weight loss plan, and PhenQ provides a good dose of high-quality fibre in the form of nopal. Fibre is important for overall health, gut health, digestive health, and cholesterol levels, which all further aid weight loss. Fibre swells in the stomach, aiding satiation and dimming down hunger pangs.

Finally, PhenQ contains 25 mg of a-Lacy’s Reset, a patented ingredient which is arguably the main event.

This ingredient is clinically proven to help the body burn more fat while also eliciting greater rates of hypertrophy (muscle building). This makes it perfect for anyone looking to work a recomp – the incredibly difficult process of losing fat whilst also building muscle.

PhenQ’s ingredients list is impressive and well-dosed. It is all natural, vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, filler and additive-free. The ingredients work together to provide a powerful thermogenic effect that helps to boost metabolism and burn extra calories.

With a good dose of fibre and other key ingredients, PhenQ is an effective weight loss supplement that can help you to achieve your weight loss goals more ably, more easily, and far more comfortably.

Instant Knockout is, of course, also designed to help individuals lose weight and burn fat. However, the focus is far more on explosive athleticism than PhenQ.

Instant Knockout includes a good vitamin and mineral complex, with micronutrients like B6 and B12, chromium picolinate, and zinc, which are associated with various different ways for achieving weight loss and hormone stabilization. Zinc, in particular, is important for optimising men’s health and athletic output.

These components provide a solid foundation.

And the real work begins with Instant Knockout’s green tea extract, which is a brilliant thermogenic ingredient with plenty of data supporting its efficacy. Green tea aids focus and concentration, which can be compromised by a calorie-restricted diet.

The catechins in green tea are powerful antioxidants that increase the hormone norepinephrine, which is one of the body’s most important hormones for fat burning – optimal levels of norepinephrine lead to optimal fat burning.

You also get a small amount of l-theanine, an amino acid in green tea. L-theanine has been tied to improved focus and attention, alongside diminished effects from stress and anxiety.

Green coffee bean keeps this thermogenesis going. They are essentially raw coffee beans – unroasted beans, just as nature intended them. Green coffee beans hold onto their chlorogenic acid, which hinders the storage of glucose in the liver.

This glucose is the body’s preferred energy source, and while it is present, the body won’t want to use fat for energy. Getting rid of this glucose content will make the body create energy by burning its fat reserves.

In one three-month study, obese participants who took instant coffee enriched with chlorogenic acid every day lost an average of 12 lbs, or 5.4 kg, compared to control groups.

Cayenne pepper is one of the best-known, most well-studied thermogenic compounds. Both supplements use it to great effect. Capsaicin leads to increased temperatures in the body, meaning greater thermogenesis and unlocking fat as heat. Capsaicin also suppresses appetite and increases satiation, meaning that individuals feel fuller for longer.

Glucomannan, sourced from the konjac root, is one of the healthiest, most effective fibres going for appetite suppression and digestive health. It can absorb water and swell up to fifty times its starting size to promote satiety, making it easier to maintain a calorie deficit.

It can also mitigate sugar and cholesterol absorption by creating a protective coating around the bowel wall, slowing down the speed at which food is processed.

While data on its efficacy for weight loss are mixed, there is evidence in its favour, including studies that have shown it can reduce body weight in overweight or obese adults who are otherwise healthy. Glucomannan noodles have also been found to lead to a greater level of satiety and diminished hunger levels, resulting in fewer calories consumed later in the day.

25-30 grams of fibre per day should be something of a minimum requirement in our diets. This should include 6-8 grams of soluble fibre. Low-fibre diets (which calorie-restricted diets can often become) can cause constipation, whilst soluble fibres like glucomannan can help improve digestive health. Glucomannan is a good source of soluble fibre and can bulk up stools by absorbing water, making them easier to pass.

Glucomannan also has prebiotic properties that feed healthy gut bacteria, leading to varied and profound benefits for overall health and wellbeing. It has been shown to improve bowel movements by increasing quantities of Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli.

Caffeine is the heart of Instant Knockout’s effective formula. While it may not be the best ingredient on the list, it elevates the other components and provides energy and metabolism-boosting properties.

Instant Knockout contains a significant amount of caffeine, equivalent to around five single espressos per serving. This can make it unsafe for some users, but it enhances the effects of other ingredients such as capsaicin, glucomannan, and green tea.

Caffeine acts as an energy booster and metabolism enhancer, increasing the amount of energy expended even at rest. It works by binding to nerve cells in the brain in place of adenosine, a neurochemical that triggers a rest response. This prevents the brain from slowing down, leading to increased energy levels and metabolic function, allowing individuals to burn through extra fat while staying active.

However, caffeine’s effects are not indefinite and can lead to an energy crash when it wears off. Nonetheless, while its effects last, caffeine provides individuals with greater energy levels and heightened metabolic function, allowing them to accomplish their goals even as they burn through excess body fat.

Overall, Instant Knockout’s ingredients list sets a good baseline for weight loss and fat burning. Its thermogenic ingredients work together to increase energy expenditure, boost metabolism, and turn stored fat into heat. Additionally, glucomannan helps to suppress appetite and increase satiation, while also improving digestive health.

Using PhenQ and Instant Knockout

As an ex-martial artist, fitness expert, and supplement lover, I have always been curious about Instant Knockout. As we have seen, Instant Knockout uses a combination of ingredients to help boost energy levels, suppress appetite, and aid in weight loss.

As a pre-workout supplement, it provides you a rush of energy. It certainly enabled me to push myself harder during weightlifting and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

One of the most impressive benefits of Instant Knockout is its ability to suppress appetite. With that glucomannan intake, I didn’t crave more food when taking it even though I missed my large meals. I was satisfied with what I was eating and didn’t experience hunger pangs until just half an hour or so prior to eating my next planned meal.

Additionally, my digestive health was sound, which isn’t always a given when you restrict your calorie intake.

In one month, I was able to shed 3 kilograms of body weight, or seven pounds, give or take. Although it’s not a magic pill, Instant Knockout can be a valuable tool to help you achieve your weight loss goals.

PhenQ is has been proven to be highly effective. I am always thoroughly impressed with the results when I take it. PhenQ delivers on its promises by providing increased energy, suppressing appetite, and promoting greater fat loss as part of a broader calorie deficit.

I coupled PhenQ with a daily calorie deficit of 500 calories, the same as I always maintain when cutting (I did the same with Instant Knockout). The results were impressive, with PhenQ mitigating all symptoms of fatigue and brain fog that are typically associated with a calorie deficit. I was able to work and work out at my usual standard without suffering any ill consequences (though the buzz is always far less intense than I find with Instant Knockout.)

PhenQ also helped to suppress my appetite, which as we have seen is a common problem for those trying to lose weight. While the appetite suppression was not as effective as other products that contain glucomannan or similar fibres, it was still effective in reducing unwanted snacking.

My weight loss was consistent and stable – I was able to lose just over a pound per week, or half a kilogram, for the full six weeks in which I was cutting. This resulted in a total weight loss of seven pounds, or half a stone. The consistency of the weight loss was impressive, as I typically experience uneven weight loss.

PhenQ made the whole weight loss experience far more pleasant and rewarding, with no side effects from cutting calories.

Verdict

So where do we go from here? It’s a tough one. My results were similar on each.

Each felt quite different, however.

Instant Knockout felt like a pre-workout supplement that I was on throughout the day, which was intense. I quite enjoyed it – it certainly aided my athleticism and productivity. However, it’s probably not great in the long run.

Six weeks is enough – that caffeine content wears thin, loses its potency, and can cause anxiety in the longer-run. I would recommend it for somebody looking for a quick cut with some intense training thrown in there.

PhenQ is no slacker. It still gives you a lot of energy. It’s just far more manageable and far smoother. The satiation isn’t quite as good as Instant Knockout, but you can take it near enough indefinitely, enjoying the benefits throughout a longer cutting phase.

If you’re looking at something more like a three-month cut, whilst wanting fewer, if any, side effects, then PhenQ is the one for you.
