Research

The research team at the Center for Connected Health is creating and testing innovative ways to solve challenging problems in today’s healthcare system. Through rigorous clinical trials and program evaluation, the team is gaining insights into the opportunities and challenges of using connected health to transform care delivery. This cutting edge research plays an important role in shaping strategies to implement and scale connected health programs across the healthcare system.

Some of our current projects include:

Sensors and Smartphone Apps

Promoting lifestyle modifications in patients with chronic diseases (diabetes) using sensors and behavioral feedback, through smartphone apps.

Text Messaging

To increase physical activity in patients with diabetes through text messaging.

In-Home Sensors

Preventing falls in vulnerable home-bound patients using algorithm-driven feedback from in-home sensors.

PillStation Device

Improving medication adherence in patients with chronic diseases using a PillStation device.

Social Media

Reducing exacerbations in teens with asthma by improving follow-up using social media.

Predictive Model

Building a predictive model using behavioral characteristics to stratify patients with heart failure, by risk of readmission.

Return On Investment Model
